School Choice

The Two Rivers School District is now accepting applications from parents who wish to take advantage of the Arkansas School Choice law for the 2014-2015 school year. The program was established to give parents and students options with respect to where students attend public school and to enable students to attend public school in a district they do not reside in. The following restrictions with the following deadlines apply:

School districts may only loose up to 3% of a number determined by the Arkansas Department of Education.

Applications for school choice must be filed in the resident district and the district you wish to attend by June 1st.

The superintendent of the nonresident district notifies the parent and resident district of acceptance or denial of school choice applications.

Voice of Democracy

Several Two Rivers students recently competed in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Voice of Democracy Scholarship Essay Contest. This Veterans of Foreign Wars Post is located in Plainview, Arkansas and commanded by John Hartley and the Quartermaster is John Overfelt. The winners from Two Rivers were as follows:
1st Colton Smith $250 Scholarship
2nd Madison Allred $150 Scholarship
3rd Kali McKnight $100 Scholarship
Congratulations to these students and a special thanks to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Plainview, Arkansas.

Speak Up Speak Out

Two Rivers seventh and eighth grade students are participating in the Speak Up Speak Out speech contest held annually by the county extension office. Students in English write and present a two to five minute speech over the topic of their choice. Classroom winners advance to the school contest which was held on April 16, 2014. Seventh grade winners were Grace Rankin, first place, Brenda Walton, second place, Hailey Minnie, third place, Avery Brown, fourth place, and Heylie Young, alternate. Eighth grade winners were Madeline Hance, Jordan Thomlinson, Kinsey Noakes, Haley Weeks, and Samantha Burns. These students will compete at county on May 1, 2014, in Daville against other Yell County students.

Career Center Awards

Two Rivers High School student Kara Goyne was named student of the month at the Arkansas Tech Career Center in Automotive Technology for the month of March, 2014.

Gator of the Month

Two Rivers High School Gators of the Month for March are Anastasia Walton, Gilbert Burns, Ryan Horn, and Colton Smith.

Gifted & Talented Nominations

Elementary Musical

Two Rivers Elementary students will be presenting their annual Spring musical entitled "Swamped!" on Thursday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. In the high school gymnasium. All elementary students (K-4) are involved in this production. Parents, family, friends, and community members are all invited to come out to our "Swamp" and enjoy the show!

CTE Awards Ceremony

The Annual CTE Completer Ceremony will be held on April 29, 2014 in the auditorium. Seniors honored will receive an invitation. Any parents or other family members who wish to attend are invited.

Arkansas Online Baseball Museum Project

Two Rivers EAST students have created the Arkansas Online Baseball Museum. The museum features information, biographies, interviews, and photographs of former professional baseball players from Yell and Perry Counties. Later the project will expand to players from throughout Arkansas. Click on the following link to visit the museum.

Employment Opportunities

Two Rivers Fitness Center

Two Rivers Schools is changing the times when it will be available. Beginning January 27th, the fitness center will only be open to the public on Monday and Thursday nights from 4-7 pm. The Martial Arts, Baton, Gymnastics, and Zumba will continue as planned. The fitness center will be closed during home basketball games but scheduled classes will be held.
